About Australia
Australia is an island surrounded by three oceans and four seas. About 40% of the country is in the tropics and it’s almost the same size as the mainland United States. With a fascinating and sadly turbulent indigenous history, and strong European ties, Australia is home to a diverse mix of cultures this results in some vibrant and cosmopolitan cities.
Australia is also renowned for its fascinating wildlife, from sleepy koalas to cute kangaroos, wombats and possums, to the less cuddly crocodiles and snakes and the endless wealth of marine life to be found off-shore, including sharks, whales and penguins, nowhere else will you find such bizarre looking animals! Close encounters either in the wild or in the excellent wildlife parks, farms and zoos make for a memorable part of your Australia holiday.
Apart from its unique wildlife and its friendly and hospitable people, Australia is a fascinating destination whatever your interests. Hotels are rated among the best in the world, while restaurants, representative of all nationalities and to suit all tastes, abound in Australia. On the coast, seafood is particularly good and comparatively inexpensive. Wines in Australia are excellent and the numerous vineyards are well worth a visit.
Passports and Visas/ Entry Formalities
British residents will require a valid passport and an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) for entry into Australia. This system replaces the need for a visa and enables passengers to be processed more quickly on arrival in Australia. The ETA has a 12 month validity, enabling multiple stays of up to 3 months each visit. Our specialist team will be pleased to arrange the ETA on your behalf.
