Introduction to Iceland

We offer both summer and winter holidays to Iceland. In summer, take advantage of the long daylight hours, high season being June to August. The best months for wild flowers are from mid-June to August and for birds May and June. If you want to travel through the uninhabited interior of Iceland, you should plan to visit early July to end September when most of the highland tracks are open.

Iceland really is a pleasure to drive around, with quiet roads and magnificent scenery around almost every bend. On a fly drive holiday, with your own vehicle and the comfort and convenience of pre-booked accommodation, you can enjoy the freedom to explore at your leisure.

With our Iceland Escorted Holidays you can enjoy exploring Iceland in either the summer or winter in the company of a knowledgeable guide and with like-minded travellers. Our ever popular Countryside Tours offer traditional touring around several hand picked centres, while our Summertime Special focuses on activity and adventure.

Iceland offers exceptional opportunities for whale watching (April-October) and horse riding (year round). The Icelandic horse is a pure breed with five gaits. They are sure-footed animals that are gentle, spirited and eager to please the rider offering the perfect method of exploring Iceland’s exceptional and varied scenery.

From late August until mid-April, the spectacular northern lights can often be observed. Displays can vary in intensity from a glowing curtain of greenish yellow lights dancing in the distance to a spectacular, multi-coloured fusion stretching across the sky.

City breaks to Reykjavik are popular all year round. In summer you can wander through the city and explore the surrounding countryside, or attend one of the many summer festivals. In winter marvel at the Christmas lights and festive celebrations and search the night skies for the northern lights. With a wealth of natural wonders (including the Blue Lagoon spa on your doorstep) you can explore by day and indulge in fine dining at night. Whatever time of year you travel to Reykjavik you can also learn how to party the Icelandic way in the thriving capital city of Iceland!
